Time Zones_v1

This tool is designed to provide a visual roadmap of specific trading sessions directly on your price chart. Instead of forcing you to constantly check the clock, it automatically highlights key time periods where significant market activity typically occurs, allowing for better organization of your trading day.

Core Functionality

The script works by identifying and drawing colored rectangular zones over your historical data based on pre-defined timeframes. Here is how the logic flows:

1. Timezone Visualization You can define multiple "sessions" (for example, a morning session and an afternoon session). The script takes the start and end times you provide and automatically calculates where those moments fall on the chart for a set number of past days.

2. Visual Identification Rather than just drawing lines, the tool creates solid colored blocks (rectangles) in the background of your chart. By choosing different colors for different sessions, you can easily distinguish between different market behaviors—such as high-volatility opening periods versus quieter midday trends.

3. Dynamic Range Calculation The script includes a specialized logic to determine the height of these visual boxes:

  • By default, it looks at the price action (the lowest and highest points) during that specific time window to ensure the box covers the actual movement of the market.
  • It also includes a toggle option; if you prefer a consistent visual style regardless of volatility, you can set it to ignore the price range and maintain a fixed size.

4. Intelligent Date Handling The tool is programmed with "smart" date logic to ensure accuracy over long periods. It recognizes:

  • Trading Days: It ensures that the historical data is mapped correctly across different months and years.
  • Calendar Awareness: It accounts for varying month lengths (30 vs. 31 days) and even leap years, ensuring that the boxes appear on the correct dates without overlapping or skipping days.

How it Benefits the User

By using this script, you gain a clear visual "geography" of the market. You can see at a glance which hours of the day were most active in the past and quickly identify your preferred trading windows. It effectively transforms raw chronological data into a structured visual schedule, helping you stay disciplined with your trading routine.
