This script is designed to analyze historical price movements to identify key trading levels based on daily price extremes. Specifically, it focuses on the highest and lowest prices reached during previous trading sessions to plot horizontal reference lines on your chart.
Core Functionality
The tool automatically scans through price history—either a specific number of bars set by the user or the entire available history—to identify the "High" and "Low" points for each day. By recognizing when the date changes, the script captures the maximum and minimum prices of the completed day and carries that data forward to calculate specific trading levels.
Key Features & Logic
- Daily Range Detection: The script distinguishes between different trading days. When a new day begins, it "locks in" the highs and lows of the previous day.
- Dynamic Level Mapping: It calculates and draws two primary horizontal lines on the chart:
- Resistance: Based on the highest price reached during the previous day.
- Support: Based on the lowest price reached during the previous day.
- Timeframe Protection: To ensure accuracy, the script includes a built-in safety check. It will only function on timeframes smaller than one day (such as 1-hour, 15-minute, etc.). If applied to a daily chart or higher, it will provide a warning to the user.
- On-Screen Data Display: Depending on the user's settings, the script can display a real-time text summary on the chart. This summary shows the current High, Low, the midpoint of that range (the average), and the total distance between the high and low prices in points.
Summary for Traders
Instead of looking at every tiny price fluctuation, this tool simplifies your view by highlighting where the market "turned around" yesterday. It helps you visualize clear boundaries—Resistance and Support—based on actual historical data, allowing for a cleaner analysis of current price action relative to previous daily extremes.
