This script is designed for the MetaTrader platform to provide a visual representation of specific trading sessions or time windows on your price charts. Instead of relying on manual marking, it automatically draws shaded zones over historical data to highlight when certain market activities occur.

Core Functionality

The tool identifies specific "work times" by allowing you to define start and end times for different sessions. It then scans back through the chart history—covering a user-defined number of days—and places visual boxes over these periods. This makes it much easier to identify high-activity windows, such as the London or New York sessions, at a glance.

How the Logic Works:

  • Time Window Definition: You can set up two different time blocks (Session 1 and Session 2). For each block, you define the opening and closing times (e.g., from 00:00 to 23:30) and choose a specific color for that area.
  • Dynamic Range Detection: The script intelligently calculates the price range for each session. By default, it looks at the highest and lowest prices reached during your specified time window and draws a box connecting those points. This ensures that the visual box accurately reflects the volatility or movement of the market during that specific period.
  • Customizable Visuals: There is an option to toggle how the price range is displayed. You can choose to have the boxes represent the actual price extremes recorded in the market, or you can modify this behavior based on your personal viewing preferences.
  • Automatic Historical Coverage: The script automatically calculates the dates for the past several days. It includes logic to skip over weekends (non-trading days) and correctly handle different month lengths and leap years, ensuring that the boxes are placed accurately on the correct trading days in your history.
  • Background Integration: To ensure the visual blocks do not obscure the price candles or other indicators, the script is programmed to draw these zones in the background of your chart.

User Experience

For a trader, this tool serves as a historical map. When you load the chart, you will see color-coded blocks spanning the last several days (defaulting to 50). This allows you to instantly see where specific sessions occurred, helping you identify patterns, volume trends, or specific times of day that may be most relevant to your trading strategy.
